On the last day of this year’s PolishFest in Toronto, the dissipating audience was given a special treat — the sound of Adam’s spacedrum. A film maker who enjoys music making: guitar over the years, etc., and now — space drum.
If you’re wondering what it sounds like, think:
- all at once
The SPACEDRUM website reveals:
The Spacedrum® belongs to the Trinidad steeldrum and Hang family (the Hang is made in Switzerland by Panart® and has been distributed by Djoliba during 5 years). It’s a french designed melodic metal percussion. Philippe Maignaut & Djoliba are designers with trademark and patent filed. In october 2011 they have created together a company called Metal Sounds dedicated to the making of metal melodic percussions.
Thanks to these three sizes the Spacedrum is available in pentatonic, diatonic and even chromatic ranges. It is also the first instrument of its kind to propose a complete chromatic scale (13 notes) which permit to play all styles of music in any key.
